Channel 4's Inside Out Homes feature theEDGE, IDSystems market leading doors
Inside Out Homes, Channel 4's newest home improvement and renovation television programme has proved a huge hit. The six part series follows architectural genius Zac Monro as he works alongside different architects and designers to turn dull and uninspiring houses into bold and individual homes that stand out from the crowd.
Utilising glazing, open plan spaces and contemporary designs each home is transformed, connecting in interior and exterior to unleash the extraordinary potential of each property.
Episode 3 of the series saw Zac take on a massive challenge, transforming Andrew & Veronique Japp's tiny 75sqm ex-council house in South London into a home big enough for the couple and their two daughters.
Zac set about demonstrating how a 1970's council house could be turned into a modern family home - with a little bit of imagination and an inspiring use of theEDGE sliding doors to create an open plan ground floor that extended beyond the walls of the house into the garden at each side of the house.
The plan, to demolish the existing structure and rebuild from scratch, took a bit of getting used to for Andrew and Veronique, and tested the relationship between architect and client, but the end result was a stunning home that the family love.
The house features two sets of theEDGE sliding doors at each end of the house, with an open plan living space and kitchen connecting the two ends of the home and the doors opening on to the garden to create a continuous and connected living space.
The ultra-slim 24mm profile of theEDGE maximised the light in the house, whilst linking the home and gardens even when closed. The completed home almost doubled the available living space for the family and gave them a home Andrew was quick to describe as 'perfect'.
