Ecohouse new build in Kessingland, Suffolk
Products: Grand Slider and aluminium windows
High on the cliffs on one of the most easterly points of the country in Kessingland, Suffolk is an impressive new build with eco-credentials. The modern large building features a complete glazing package from IDSystems with large picture windows looking out over the North Sea.
Mr and Mrs Adams visited our showroom with their impressive plans to build a new build home which was focussed around the stunning view out over the cliffs. The client was keen to use a folding door system having the ability to create large open expanses of glazing.
However after meeting with a member of our technical sales department they were soon convinced that sliding doors were the better solution. Due to the limitations of panel sizes on folding doors, it would have meant that the view was broken up into metre wide windows. Deciding to switch to sliding doors meant that 2.5m wide panels of glass could be utilised in both sliding doors and large picture windows. The system also utilises a flush track design with the internal and external floor levels being the same with no compromise to the weathering.
The weather protection was of upmost importance being in such an exposed location. The systems were manufactured to include a marine finish. This finish that we offer provides the best protection to the powder coated aluminium, by cutting and machining all material to the correct size prior to powder coating. This ensures that there are no exposed aluminium edges within the mitres of the doors panels. Preventing the salt air from being able to oxidise the aluminium which could cause the powder coated finish to lose adhesion.
The project also required a number of bespoke aluminium claddings to be fitted around steel corner-posts and fascias. The claddings were all powder coated the same dark grey colour as the door and window frames to provide a uniform look throughout the entire facade.
On completion of the project we returned to site to take a number of photographs of the project to use in our advertising and brochures together with a huge feature on the side of some of our fleet vehicles.
