Sustainable North Norfolk new-build

Products: theEDGE ultra-slim sliding doors, fixed frame windows & balustrades

Maximising the location and view in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was key to this redevelopment and new-build on the North Norfolk coast.

The site contained a 1950s houses and outbuildings that were out of keeping with the area, and so in its place the owners were granted permission to build a sustainable, low-energy new-build family home, clad in locally sourced timber and stone, and including theEDGE ultra-slim sliding doors to make the most of the stunning view over the salt marshes and estuary.

Designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects, the house is built around a courtyard and focused on the footprint of the existing foundations. It features a cantilevered living space with a 3-panel theEGDE that perfectly frame the view of the coastline, with two further sets of theEDGE included within the main living/dining room, one on to the decking area at the front of the house and a second into the central courtyard of the building.

The sliding doors also maximise light into the rooms on the north elevation of the house, and combined with its open-plan design and use of glazing the finished house minimises the energy usage and creates a light filled home.
